Editorial Policy
Who we are, how we research, compare and update the information on UK Mobility Stairlifts, and how we make money.
Who we are
UK Mobility Stairlifts is an independent UK website that helps people compare stairlift brands, prices and funding options. Our guides are written and maintained by our editorial team and published under the UK Mobility Stairlifts name.
How we research prices
We collect stairlift prices from manufacturers' published prices, written supplier quotes, and quotes readers choose to share with us anonymously. Each price is recorded with the brand, model, staircase type, whether it's new or reconditioned, what's included and the date. We only publish a figure once we have at least five observations, and we use medians and typical ranges rather than averages. See the price index methodology.
How we compare manufacturers
Brand comparisons use published specifications (stair width, weight capacity, warranty, models), our own price data and public review ratings, each with the date we checked it. Where a manufacturer doesn't publish a figure, we say so rather than guess. No brand can pay to change a verdict or ranking.
How we check funding information
Funding and grant guidance is taken from official sources: GOV.UK, GOV.WALES, nidirect, mygov.scot and local council websites. We review funding pages at least every six months and whenever official guidance changes. Eligibility is always decided by the council or authority, not by us.
How we track brand reviews
We record public ratings and review counts from review platforms such as Trustpilot, with the date checked and a link to the source. We don't edit, filter or select reviews, and we summarise common themes from both positive and negative reviews.
Commercial relationships
UK Mobility Stairlifts is free to use. We earn money in two ways: commission from Acorn Stairlifts when a reader requests a quote or buys through our links, and, where you ask us to, by passing your quote enquiry to a stairlift provider covering your postcode. We only share your details when you submit a quote form, and only for that enquiry. Commercial relationships never change our comparison verdicts. Where Acorn is not the best fit for a need, we say so. Full details: Affiliate disclosure.
