It needs a suitable power supply for charging, installed to the correct standard for outdoor use. The surveyor will confirm what your property needs.

Does it work in a power cut?

Yes. Like the indoor models it runs on rechargeable batteries topped up at charging points, so it keeps working for a number of journeys if the power goes off.

What about snow and ice?

Keep the rail and steps clear as you would any external route. The cover should be used when the lift is not in use, and regular servicing matters more outdoors than indoors.

Do I need planning permission?

In most ordinary domestic situations no, but listed buildings and conservation areas can be different. Check with your local authority if either applies, and mention it at survey.
