Curved staircases
Both make curved lifts, and in both cases the rail is manufactured for your staircase — the Acorn 180 on one side, Handicare's curved products on the other. That makes the comparison less about the machine and more about the process:
- who carries out the measurement, and whether that is the same business that fits the lift
- the quoted manufacturing and installation lead time, in writing
- whether the rail can park clear of a doorway or hallway

Narrow stairs and difficult layouts
This is a survey question, not a brand question. Acorn states stairlifts are available for narrow staircases and Handicare markets slim-profile options, but what decides it is the usable width once the rail and folded seat are in place, and whether anyone else needs to get past.
